Cygnus Chinchilla
Welcome to Cygnus, where chinchillas come first.
Cygnus Chinchilla is the only registered chinchilla breeder in New England currently providing animals; serving Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. In addition to being a very small scale breeder, I am also part of the Maine Chinchilla Shelter. I am a member in good standing with Empress Chinchilla Breeders Cooperative, Mutation Chinchilla Breeders Association, and Global Chinchilla Alliance.
Chinchilla health and well-being are the touchstones for everything I do, and these are guided by industry experts, the latest in research, and my education in animal behavior and ecology.

Empress Chinchilla Breeders Cooperative
Mugsy, a perennial favorite here at Cygnus, and part of my personal herd. He is a former shelter chinchilla, is nearly 10 years old, a beige, and loves to cuddle. He does outreach activities with me, has been nearly stolen more than once, and is the perfect big boy to help folks learn how to hold a chinchilla.

Licensed and inspected by the State of Maine.
We are not currently a 501(c)(3), though that is on the agenda for 2026.
